Does converting to PNG improve quality?
No. The PNG is an exact copy of the JPG as it is now; it cannot bring back detail the JPG already lost. It does stop any further loss when the picture is saved again.
Why is the PNG file bigger?
PNG stores every pixel exactly, which takes more space than JPG for photos. If you need a small file, keep the JPG or use WebP.
Will the background become transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
